Trends in Gender Finance in ACP Development Finance Institutions: Overview and Selected Examples

A study produced under the EU-co-funded Investment Climate Reform (ICR) Facility examining emerging trends in gender-responsive finance and women's economic empowerment among national and sub-regional development finance institutions (DFIs) across African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) countries — a segment whose efforts are rarely documented compared with multilateral banks. It lays out the research methodology, reviews features of DFIs' gender strategies and policies (including gender policy and human-resources practices and client-facing products and technical assistance), showcases examples of gender-responsive projects, and highlights gaps and support needs. It found fewer than 20% of identified ACP DFIs showed evidence of planning or implementing gender policies or programs.
