Developed by ConsumerCentriX, the Argidius Foundation, Dutch Good Growth Fund, Women Entrepreneurs Finance Initiative (We-Fi), this framework aims to help financial and non-financial intermediaries, investors, program designers, and donors better tailor their offerings to WSMEs. The framework, developed through research in Pakistan, Uganda, and Colombia, challenges conventional size-driven segmentation by classifying women-owned/led small and medium enterprises (WSMEs) based on projected growth of enterprise revenue. The framework identifies three key growth segments based on the expected percentage increase in annual revenue over the next five years: high, moderate, and low-growth. The framework also pinpoints 15 business growth enablers—factors linked to the entrepreneur's personal and professional traits as well as business characteristics—that influence whether a WSME achieves high, moderate, or low growth.
