This brief report by World University Service of Canada (WUSC) and Criterion Institute explores the concept of "translation" in Gender Lens Investment (GLI), which involves bridging the gap between gender and finance expertise to enable more impactful investments. Following discussions with a wide range of Canadian and international stakeholders, the core problem identified was a lack of comprehensive gender analyses in investment decisions. Finance experts often lack the capacity to conduct robust gender analyses and undervalue the expertise of women's rights organizations (WROs). Conversely, gender experts may be unfamiliar with finance and dismiss its potential for social change. This "analysis gap" leads to investments that fall short of contributing to transformational gender equality.
