This paper was developed by Criterion Institute in partnership with the World University Service of Canada (WUSC) for the GRIT project (Growth, Resilience, Investment and Training). The GRIT project aims to build a gender-responsive entrepreneurial ecosystem in Sri Lanka's North. The report provides insights and strategies for promoting gender-responsive economic development in Sri Lanka aligned with the five strategies for using finance to drive social change outlined in its TOOLKIT framework: 1. invest in opportunities, 2. assign value in a market, 3. facilitate the movement of capital, 4. manage the business of investing, 5. diversity portfolio. The paper makes the case that gender lens investing is crucial for Sri Lanka's recovery from economic crisis and civil war.
