This is Kiva's 2021 survey of the emerging markets GLI landscape, through analysis of sector-wide microfinance data, and interviews of key industry stakeholders to identify gaps and opportunities in the market.The objective of this report is two-fold: First, the report offers a broad overview of the current GLI landscape and ecosystem, specifically related to investments in women entrepreneurs from underserved communities in emerging markets. Second, it provides a high-level summary of key stakeholder conversations the Kiva team has had to date, with a focused analysis of gaps in the current investable market, as well as near- and long term opportunities in the financial inclusion space.The goal is to present findings that will enable other actors to better understand the financial inclusion GLI landscape and ultimately be used to further advance women’s economic empowerment.
