This report presents the highlights from a survey directed to public development banks (PDBs) as part of the 2023 agenda of the Finance in Common Summit (FiCS) Coalition on Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment in Development Banks (“the Gender Coalition”), co-chaired by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and UN Women. It presents findings on how PDBs design and implement financing programs for women as individuals and women-led micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (WMSMEs). It highlights successful approaches, identifies gaps in access to finance, and showcases innovations such as targeted credit lines, guarantee schemes, capacity-building programs, and gender-lens investment strategies. The report underscores the important role of PDBs in advancing women’s economic empowerment and calls for scaling up tailored solutions that address structural barriers in financial systems.
