This case study details Soléco Energy, a women-led business in Jamaica, focused on solar PV distributed generation projects and its collaboration with Deetken Impact and IDB Invest to advance gender equity in the renewable energy sector. Deekten provided technical assistance to Soléco to design and implement equitable business strategies and to build the team’s capacity to advance gender within the company, the communities of influence, and the sector. This involved a solar panel assembly and installation training program, completing the UN Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEP) tool, developing a sexual harassment policy, and training team members on gender issues.
