A compendium of fifteen financial biographies of refugees and asylum seekers in Jordan — people who fled Syria, Iraq, Yemen, Sudan and Somalia — produced by the Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt as part of the Finance in Displacement (FIND) studies, with support from Germany's BMZ. Drawing on in-depth qualitative interviews, it documents how an overwhelming majority of refugees are stuck in a “survivelihood” phase, engaged in menial work yet unable to meet basic needs and dependent on aid or social networks, with restrictive labour-market policies limiting access to skilled, better-paid work. It surfaces the lived realities behind refugee financial inclusion.
